Helpful tips to get the best fit

Place child's foot in shoe by sliding onto foot - the shoe should go on naturally without force.
Do up laces and buckles, hold ankle and give the shoe a tug - it should stay firmly on the foot.

Ask the your child to stand up straight with weight evenly on both feet!! (good luck!!)
Check there is no space behind heel - the shoe should fit snugly.

The widest part of the foot is the outside of the big toe to the outside of the little toe this should sit naturally in the widest part of the shoe.

For an enclosed shoe you can check the lengths correct by - positioning your thumb at the end of the child's big toe and checking there is approximately this distance between the end of the toe and the end of the shoe. this allows for growing room.

Ask your child to walk in the shoes - they should not trip over and the shoe should not slip of at the back.

Also remember that the season will have a lot to do with what your child will be comfortable in, if they have been running around in open toe shoes all summer, they will find an enclosed shoe at the beginning of the winter season uncomfortable at first, a way to help them ease into the new season start with thinner socks!!! Good luck!!
